WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator JD Vance (R-OH) issued a statement this morning after White House Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young failed to deliver a report on the total amount of funding provided to Ukraine. Senator Vance is now calling for President Biden to produce an immediate plan to bring an end to the Ukraine conflict in a way that benefits American national security interests.
“Over a month ago, Congress appropriated billions in additional security assistance for the war in Ukraine. When President Biden signed that bill into law, he pledged that his administration would deliver a report detailing our financial commitment to this conflict. Yesterday, his administration flagrantly ignored its own obligation to transparency,” said Senator Vance.
“Before President Biden spends another taxpayer dollar in Ukraine, he must lay out a clear plan for ending the conflict in a way that advances our national security interests. No more blank checks. It is past time for the President to tell the American people how this comes to an end.”
For Background:
On January 19, Senator Vance led a group of House and Senate lawmakers in requesting that a full, crosscutting report on the budget execution of funding provided as a result of the Ukraine conflict be delivered to Congress by February 7.
The White House Office of Management and Budget acknowledged receipt of Senator Vance’s letter, but failed to share a report with Congress and the American people.
